SOS - Disaster Relief Call-Out 2/4/2009
Sent: Monday, February 02, 2009 2:19 PM
Subject: Disaster relief call out
Greetings and SOS I have just received a call from Patrick Johnson, SWVA regional disaster relief stating that there is a need for chain saw/mudout crews in Kentucky. He indicated that some might be going as early as Thur (Feb 5). Would you please get this word out to all those in your church that have been trained in disaster relief. Folks who are available need to contact either Nicole Bulls in disaster relief office at Viginia Baptist Mission Board, Patrick Johhnson, or myself. Further details will be forthcoming. Patrick indicated that this might be a continuing series of call outs for the next few weeks. Prayerfully consider this as we remember all those who have been hit so hard by the recent winter storms. Have a blessed day! Lee

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14 NIV
A project of Samaritan's Purse, Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoeboxes and the Good News of God's love. OCC provides an opportunity for all of us (young, old, and in-between) to be involved in a simple, hands-on missions project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas—Jesus Christ. Let’s celebrate Christmas all year.
Operation Christmas Child 2008 - I love OCC All Year!
Last day to collect individual items and filled shoeboxes from our church is Sunday November 23. The Youth will be hosting a Shoebox Party on November 22, 10 am - 12:30 pm, to wrap individual shoebox and pack them will all the goodies we've collected. First Baptist is also a Regional Collection Relay Center for our local community. We take in all the filled shoeboxes from area churches, businesses, schools, and individuals and pack them in shipping cartons so they can start their missionary journey bringing the Good News to kids around the world. This year, National Collection Week is November 17 through November 23, with shipping on November 24.
We need your help!
If you want to completely fill a shoebox you can put it in the collection box as well.
If you want to donate money you can do that too.
Volunteers—we’re all missionaries
We want our children, youth and adults involved in this project all year. We’re planning some fun activities, like card-making and shoebox packing parties.

Operation Christmas Child 2007 First Baptist is a regional shoebox drop-off location for many other churches and businesses in our area. Many thanks to all who participated in the receiving and crating of filled shoeboxes. Special thanks to Velma for running the show and keeping us all in line. Thanks too for all the shoeboxes filled and donated by our congregation. In total, we received 544 filled shoeboxes. An additional 150+ were directed to Boone, NC headquarters after our truck was packed and on the road. Because of all of you, good works will be done!
